BRV competes at Delta Invite

The Blue River Valley High School cross country teams competed at last Saturday’s Delta Eagle Invitational

The Viking boys finished third among 12 complete teams and were paced by Gabe Sayre in 14th place, Tyler Flynn 19th, Landen Gibson 26th, James Crull 27th, Ethan Blackburn 30th, Zach Crull 38th, Adam Polston 39th, Bryden Sealover 52nd, Eli Sayre 73rd, and Jackson Qualkenbush 94th.

The Blue River girls finished fifth among eight complete teams in Saturday’s Delta Invitational and were led by Charlee Gibson in 5th place, Sydney Fellers 11th, Lexie Cordell 36th, Ella Schmidt 42nd, Kelsey Porter 51st, and Maddie Denton 74th.


Hagerstown 3, Blue River Valley 1

The Tigers hosted the Vikings Tuesday night in a non-conference match and defeated them in four sets 25-11, 25-18, 19-25, 25-18 to raise their overall record to 14-6 on the season.

For Hagerstown, Carli Cox had 15 kills, 22 assists, and 22 digs; Maddie Pruitt had 12 kills; Bailey Jeffries had 10 kills; Allison Ayotte had 21 assists and 11 digs; and Tori Kelley had 33 digs.

The Tigers travel to Northeastern tonight for a TEC match. The Wayne County Tourney that was scheduled for Saturday was cancelled.

Jr. High/Middle School Volleyball

New Castle 2, Yorktown 0 (7th)

The Trojan 7th-graders made the trek north Tuesday evening and swept past the host Tigers in straight sets 25-17, 25-19 to improve to 5-0 in the Hoosier Heritage Conference and 20-3 for the season.

For New Castle, Cadence Armacost had kills, five digs, and two aces; Emma Harris had two kills, five digs, four aces, and an assist; and Bethany Ring had nine assists, a kill, four digs, and two aces.

Also for the Trojans, Peyton Blessinger had a kill, three digs, an ace, and two assists; Alana Orr had a kill and two aces; and Marley Fraszier recorded a kill, a dig, and an ace.

The NCMS volleyball teams will compete in their last match Monday by traveling to Tri with the 7th-grade match beginning at 6 p.m.
