For the 11th consecutive time, Hagerstown High School’s girls and boys track & field teams both won Wayne County championships. The Tiger girls earned a hard-fought victory by 10 points over runner-up Centerville, while the Tiger boys bested second-place Northeastern by over 50 points.
Team scores for the girls were Hagerstown 85.5, Centerville 75.5, Northeastern 52, and Cambridge City Lincoln 13.
Individual champions for the Tiger girls included Mya Edwards in 100 and 300 hurdles, Maddie Pruitt in high jump, Abby Adams in shot put, the 4 x 100 relay team of Edwards, Hattie Hobbs, Kasiti Ferriell, and Pruitt, and the 4 x 400 relay team of Ella Nicholson, Hobbs, Ferriell, and Pruitt.
Team scores for the boys were Hagerstown 101.75, Northeastern 46.25, Centerville 44.75, and Cambridge City Lincoln 35.25.
Earning blue ribbons for the Tiger boys were Mason Romack in long jump and the 200, Caleb Lovvorn in the 110 and 300 hurdles, Quentin Osborne in the 1600, Javin Payne in the 800, Kyler Shultz in disc, Bryson Adams in shot put, and Gary Lehman in high jump.
In addition, all three Hagerstown relay teams finished first: the 4 x 100 team of Gabe Warvel, Braelen Twine, Lovvorn, Romack; the 4 x 400 team of Lowell Berger, Warvel, Payne, and Carter Jenkins; and the 4 x 800 team of Osborne, Blake Creech, Joey Auker, and Payne.
