HARTFORD CITY — The Blue River Valley High School girls track & field team traveled north on Ind. 3 Saturday for the Small School Invitational at Blackford High School and finished fourth among seven teams.

Wapahani was the team champion with 139 points. Finishing second through seventh, in order, were Eastern Hancock 105, Blackford 63, Blue River Valley 53, Cowan 51, Cambridge City Lincoln 30, and Union (Modoc) 23.

Ally Madden had a big day for the Viking girls, finishing first in the shot put (31-2.5), high jump (4-10) and 400m (1:05.01). She also placed second in the discus.

Also earning ribbons for the Vikings were Lexi Whitinger, who placed sixth in the 800, and Sydney Fellers, who finished fourth in the 3200.

Other notable performances and athletes who scored for Blue River were Tori Fulton making it to the finals in both the 100 hurdles and 200m. Emma Blackburn made it to the finals in the 100m dash.

The 4x100 relay team of Tori Fulton, Molly Claar, Emma Claar, and Emma Blackburn placed fifth and scored two points.

The 4x800 relay team of Lexi Whitinger, Molly Claar, Kelsey Porter, and Sydney Fellers placed fourth and scored four points.

The 4x400 relay team of Lexi Whitinger, Tori Fulton, Kelsey Porter, and Emma Blackburn placed fourth and scored four points.

On Thursday, April 15, the Viking girls traveled to Selma to participate in a four-way meet with Seton Catholic, Union City, and the host Raiders and finished second with a squad of just seven athletes.

Team scores were Wapahani 102, Blue River Valley 56, Seton Catholic 22, and Union City 9.

For the Vikings, Ally Madden placed first in the shot put (29-7), discus (77-5), and high jump (4-8). She also ran a great anchor leg for the second-place 4x400 relay team.

Sydney Fellers placed first in the 3200 (13:36) and second in the 4x400 relay. Lexi Whitinger placed second in the 800 and second in the 4x400 relay.

Emma Blackburn placed third in the 100 hurdles, 100m dash, 200m dash, and second in the 4x100 relay.

Emma Claar placed third in the long jump, second in the 4x100 relay and fourth in the shot put and discus.

Tori Fulton placed fourth in the 100 hurdles and 200m. She also placed second in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Molly Claar placed fifth in the 800 and second in the 4x100 relay.

The Blue River girls look forward to competing with their full squad Friday at the Argyll Relays.
